We are just now forming and Insha Allaah(swt) we will be of service.
For those who need to know we are Sunni and follow the Hanafi Madhab as best as we can,
May Allaah(swt) guide us and help us grow. So far this is all a desire to be, it is Allaah(swt) alone who will determine what it becomes.

The purpose of al-khatoobah is multi fold. The primary purpose is to have it as our home. Because of our age and disabilities we do need to be closer to family and friends. We do do have both in the Goodrich area. Another purpose is to provide an online resource for Muslims and to help them learn more about our religion of peace and tolerance. We also want to provide information to dispel the misconceptions often thought about Islam. Islam is not new to America, there have been Muslims in the Americas since at least 1510. There were Muslims in the continental USA and who fought in the revolutionary war. The oldest Muslim families in America have been here for over 400 years.
Contrary to popular belief most Muslims in the USA are not recent immigrants. Over half of the US Muslims have family trees tracing back many generations as American citizens. The cowards who promote terrorism are as much if not more of an enemy to Islam as they are to non-Muslims. The so called "Islamic" terrorists have killed way more Muslims than non-Muslims.
Islam is not a new religion, we believe it dates back to Adam(as) and the message given in the Qur'an is the same given to all of the Prophets(PBUT) except it is the last time it will be given and given for all people, there will be no more Prophets(PBUT) this is Mankinds last chance to get it right.
North dakota is actually very rich in Islamic History. The First Mosque in the Americas built specifically as a Mosque, was built in North Dakota and was in continuous use until 1973 at which time the Muslim population out grew it. The first actual Muslim cemetery in the Americas is in North Dakota and is still in use.
Very few Muslims speak Arabic as their first language. Arabs make up less than 15% of the world's Muslims. although most Muslims do learn to read Arabic in order to read the Qur'an. We do not consider any translation of the Qur'an to be the Qur'an as the Qur'an was revealed in Arabic and any translation would be just an approximation of what was given. We are forbidden to give a Qur'an to any non-Muslim unless we are certain they will treat it with proper respect. A very large percentage of Muslims are Hafiz, meaning that they have memorized the entire Qur'an and can recite it with proper pronunciation which is called tajweed.

Islam in North Dakota, like Islam in most of the world is very quiet and peaceful. Many people are unaware of even having Muslim Neighbors. We do not go out trying to convert people who do not desire to know about Islam. we do not go door to door, leave pamplets in public places. etc. If a person is to become Muslim, it is their responsibility to search for it.
There are currently 8,000 Muslims living in North Dakota. Very few have any Arab ancestry. Less than 15% of the world's Muslim are Arab. The same is true here, less than 15% of ND Muslims are Arab. Islam is not an Arab religion, it is a religion for all people and is made up of people of all types. Many Muslims in North Dakota seem to have predominately European ancestry such as German, Russian, Polish, Lithuanian, Czech etc. a few are Native American from the Chippewa and Lakota Nations, some are immigrants from Somalia, Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan. About 4000 Muslims live in a rough triangle formed by Minot, Bismarck, and Jamestown. Of those the majority live in the cities of Minot. Bismarck and Jamestown. the ones I am concerned about and desire to be of benefit to are the 25-30 families that live within a 50 mile radius of Goodrich. Those 25-30 families will one day make up ICCND. Currently they have no easy access to basic learning of the Qur'an, Arabic lessons to properly learn to read the Qur'an, no location to buy reasonably priced permitted clothing or even halal meat. It is sad as North dakota is the third largest USA producer of Halal meat, yet the retail outlets to buy it here are few.
At the moment this website is our attempt to have at least an online Mosque for the isolated Muslims living in Central North Dakota. It is a self financed project and to be honest I have nearly exhausted all of my personal resources. I now have to call upon the Muslims in North Dakota to assist in any way they can. If not financially, in prayer.
Islam has no central leadership, nor ordained clergy each Mosque has to be built by individuals using their own resources and the local Islamic community. We get no financial aide from any religious organization. A Mosque has to be made by local people with local funding. We are currently looking for personal loans to at least get the Mosque set up, even if my wife and myself are the only 2 who use it. Inshallah, it will serve others. We do intend to have a rural public library, free for the community to use and currently have over 3 thousand general topic books to donate to it. None are religious books but generally topics and healthy, wholesome literature. We are currently looking through our DVD collections and verifying those are suitable for general public viewing.
